The Rosemount 3300 Series Level and Interface Transmitter operates using Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR), where low-power microwave pulses travel along a probe and reflect back when encountering changes in dielectric constant. This allows precise measurement of both total level and interface level (e.g., oil/water separation) without being affected by variations in temperature, pressure, density, or conductivity. It supports measurement in harsh environments with process temperatures up to 752°F (400°C) and pressures up to 5000 psi (345 bar), making it suitable for demanding industrial applications.

In addition, the transmitter features a loop-powered two-wire design (11–42 VDC) with 4–20 mA HART and optional Modbus communication, enabling easy integration into control systems.
