The course covers vital topics such as rigging safety, edge protection, roofwork, scaffolding, MEWPs, ladders, harness use, and fall prevention. Delegates gain both theoretical knowledge and practical awareness to safely plan, supervise or support rigging and height work in entertainment settings.

2. Working At Heights & Harness/Lanyard Safety Awareness Training

This Working at Heights & Harness/Lanyard Safety Awareness course is aimed at individuals whose job involves tasks at height especially those who must use fall arrest harnesses and lanyards. The training provides foundational knowledge on hazards, safety equipment, regulations, and control measures to perform height work safely and confidently.

Course Content

  • Health & Safety legislation relating to working at heights, inspection, and certification of fall protection equipment

  • Definition and scope of Working at Height (WAH)

  • Hazards, risks, and control measures in height work

  • Ladder safety awareness and safe usage

  • Safe working practices on roofs

3. IPAF MEWP 3a, 3b & 1b Operator Training

This comprehensive IPAF Operator Training course covers three key MEWP categories:

  • 1b – Static Boom (e.g. van-mounted, trailer lifts, spider booms)

  • 3a – Mobile Vertical (scissor lifts, vertical personnel platforms)

  • 3b – Mobile Boom (articulated and telescopic booms, driven at height)

The aim is to equip delegates with the knowledge, skills, practical competence, and confidence necessary to operate these types of MEWPs safely, in compliance with relevant Irish and international regulations.

4. Mobile Access Tower Training Course

The Mobile Access Tower Training Course by Qtech Safety is designed for workers across Ireland who need to erect, inspect, dismantle, and move aluminium mobile scaffold towers safely and efficiently.
This one-day course ensures compliance with the Irish Code of Practice for Access and Working Scaffolds, as guided by the Health and Safety Authority (HSA).

For operators working in the UK or Northern Ireland, PASMA training is recommended while in the Republic of Ireland, this Mobile Access Tower course provides equivalent, HSA-recognised safety training.

Course Objectives

5. Mini Spider Crane Familiarisation

Equip delegates with the essential skills and knowledge to safely operate mini / spider cranes. The course covers both theoretical and practical aspects, allowing participants to understand crane systems, safe operations, hazard awareness, and compliance with inspection standards.

Trainee Requirements

  • Age: Minimum 18 years

  • Medical Fitness: Must be physically and mentally fit to operate machinery

  • PPE: Trainees should bring Safety Footwear, Hard Hat, Hi-Visibility Vest, and any other required safety gear

6. Abrasive Wheels Training Course

This half-day programme is designed to meet Irish legal requirements and industry best practices for safe use and mounting of abrasive wheels. Participants will gain both theoretical and practical understanding of wheel types, storage, inspection, mounting techniques, and relevant legislation, ensuring they operate safely and competently in workplaces across Ireland.

Course Objectives

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Recognise hazards associated with abrasive wheels

  • Identify wheel markings for type, size, and safe speed

  • Understand proper storage, handling, and transportation methods

  • Inspect and test wheels for defects, cracks, or damage

7. Rescue from Tower Cranes

This 1-day rescue training is conducted on your own tower crane (or client’s crane) in Ireland. It is designed to teach participants the essential techniques and knowledge to perform emergency rescues of injured or suspended workers from a tower crane structure.

The primary objective is to enable safe, timely rescue operations using rescue kits, ladder rescues, and casualty management under height conditions.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Appreciate the critical importance of a swift rescue after an accident on a crane

  • Use a D-rope rescue kit to lower a casualty safely

  • Execute ladder rescues from crane masts or tower sections

  • Rescue a person suspended on a fall-arrest lanyard

  • Recognise and mitigate risks of suspension trauma (harness-induced injury)

  • Provide safe casualty handling from rescue phase to handover

  • Understand the necessity of regular drilling and practice

  • Must hold a current Safe Pass

  • Must be medically fit to work at height

  • Must be at least 18 years old

8. Plastering Stilts Training

This Plastering Stilts Safety Training course provides essential awareness and hands-on knowledge for those who use or supervise the use of stilts in plastering, decorating, or similar construction activities.
It focuses on the safe selection, inspection, and operation of plastering stilts to help reduce the risk of workplace accidents and ensure compliance with Irish Health & Safety Authority (HSA) guidelines.

This course is designed for private group bookings only and does not run as a public session. Training can be arranged at your premises anywhere in Ireland or at a suitable on-site location.

Course Aim

To ensure all personnel using or supervising the use of plastering stilts:

  • Understand the legal and safety requirements under Irish regulations

  • Recognize the hazards and consequences associated with improper use

  • Learn how to conduct risk assessments before using stilts

  • Gain skills to inspect and maintain stilts safely and effectively

Course Content

This training session includes both discussion and practical demonstrations, and covers:

  • Legal requirements and Irish HSA/HSE guidance

  • Risk assessment and safe system of work plans

9. Scaffold Management and Inspection

The Scaffold Management and Inspection Training Course provides participants with the essential knowledge and practical understanding to inspect, manage, and maintain scaffolding structures safely in compliance with Irish legislation and HSA codes of practice.

This 1-day training is designed for professionals who are responsible for overseeing scaffolding activities on construction sites helping them recognize faults, understand inspection protocols, and complete the required GA3 scaffold inspection forms confidently and correctly.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify common faults and safety hazards in basic scaffold structures

  • Understand the legal responsibilities of both the site management and scaffolding contractors

  • Carry out routine scaffold inspections and complete the GA3 inspection report

  • Interpret relevant Irish safety legislation and standards (TG20:13, SG4:10)

  • Understand safe erection, modification, and dismantling practices for scaffolds

The MEWP Cherry Picker – Boom Hoist Training course provides participants with the essential knowledge and practical skills to operate Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) safely and efficiently.

This 1-day certified course is designed for anyone required to use or supervise the use of Cherry Pickers, Scissor Lifts, or Boom Hoists in the workplace. The training ensures compliance with Irish Health and Safety legislation and HSA codes of practice while improving operator safety and site productivity.

Course Objectives

On successful completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Operate various types of MEWPs safely and competently in line with manufacturer guidelines.

  • Conduct pre-use inspections and identify mechanical or safety faults.
