Rosemount 2130 Level Switch

The Rosemount 2130 Level Switch operates using vibrating fork technology, where a piezoelectric crystal causes the fork to oscillate at its natural frequency. When the fork is immersed in liquid, the frequency changes due to damping effects, which is detected by the electronics and used to trigger a switching output. This design ensures dependable point-level detection regardless of liquid properties such as density, viscosity, foam, turbulence, or solids content. The device supports wide process temperature ranges from -70°C to 260°C and pressure ratings up to 100 bar, allowing it to operate in both standard and extreme industrial environments. It also features a short fork design with fast wet-to-dry response, minimizing delay in switching operations.

In addition, the 2130 includes built-in electronic self-checking and condition monitoring with a “heartbeat” LED for real-time status indication, improving operational safety and maintenance visibility. It requires no calibration, has no moving parts, and is virtually maintenance-free, which reduces lifecycle cost. The adjustable switching delay (0.3 to 30 seconds) helps prevent false triggering in turbulent or splashing conditions. With SIL 2 safety capability and suitability for overfill protection systems, it is widely used in critical process industries such as oil & gas, chemical, and power generation.
