The ProSoft MVI56E-MNETR is a Modbus TCP/IP Client/Server Enhanced Communication Module built for Rockwell Automation ControlLogix® processors, designed specifically with a reduced Input/Output data image size for remote rack applications over ControlNet or EtherNet/IP. It allows ControlLogix processors to interface easily with Modbus TCP/IP-compatible devices, such as Modicon Programmable Automation Controllers (PACs) and a wide range of other Modbus TCP/IP instruments.

Description
The ProSoft MVI56E-MNETR is a Modbus TCP/IP Enhanced Communication Module with Reduced Data Block, purpose-built to use less bandwidth on process control networks like ControlNet or EtherNet/IP. Its reduced I/O image size optimizes communication for remote rack installations, making it especially effective in systems with redundant ControlLogix processors. The module supports a 5,000-word (16-bit register) user-definable data mapping and is fully backward-compatible with earlier MVI56-MNETR versions, so existing ladder logic and configurations carry over without reprogramming.
Configuration and diagnostics are handled through the ProSoft Configuration Builder (PCB) software via the module’s high-speed 10/100 Ethernet port, with CIPconnect® support enabling remote access across bridged EtherNet/IP and ControlNet networks using Rockwell Automation 1756-ENxT and 1756-CNB interface modules. An onboard web server gives local access to documentation, module status, and firmware updates, while a Personality Module (Compact Flash card) stores network and module configuration for quick field replacement. Module status and diagnostics are also shown in plain English on a 4-character alphanumeric scrolling LED display.
