The ProSoft MVI56-BAS is a single-slot BASIC Communication Module for the ControlLogix® platform, purpose-built to migrate the large installed base of legacy BASIC programs from 1771-DB and 1747-BAS modules onto ControlLogix with minimal rework. It gives ControlLogix processors a direct interface to devices that rely on ASCII communication, such as modems, printers, bar code readers, and scales.

Description
The ProSoft MVI56-BAS is a BASIC Communication Module that lets users write BASIC programs to transfer data between the ControlLogix processor and third-party ASCII devices, creating a custom foreign-device interface without complex programming. Written programs run on the module’s own processor, offloading math and data-handling tasks from the ControlLogix CPU and freeing up processor memory and scan time. The module supports the BASIC-52 programming language and can run in DF1 full-duplex or half-duplex slave mode.
Programs are stored on the module’s Compact Flash disk, with up to 24,065 bytes of RAM available, and can be created via the command line or on a PC and downloaded to the module — with the option to auto-run on power-up. The module provides three communication ports: a DH-485 port for interfacing with Rockwell AIC+ devices, and two ASCII/DF1-capable ports (PRT1 and PRT2) for serial device connections. It fits into a single 1756 ControlLogix backplane slot and can be used in local or remote racks.
