The Siemens 6ES7331-7PF01-0AB0 SIMATIC S7-300 Analog Input SM 331 is designed for one job and does it well: reading temperature and resistance values with high accuracy. It supports a wide range of RTD types — Pt100, Pt200, Pt1000, Ni100, Ni120, Ni200, Ni500, Ni1000, LG-Ni1000, and Cu10 — plus straightforward resistance measurement up to 600 ohms. Each of the 8 channels can be wired as a 2-wire, 3-wire, or 4-wire connection, with 3-wire and 4-wire setups giving you better accuracy by cancelling out cable resistance errors.

The module runs on 24V DC, draws a maximum of 240 mA from the load supply and 100 mA from the backplane bus, and dissipates about 4.6 W of power typically. Internally, it converts each reading with up to 16-bit resolution (with overrange), and channels are electrically isolated both from each other and from the backplane bus, which helps protect your readings from electrical noise.
