Rosemount 8711 Wafer Flowtube Sensor

The Rosemount 8711 Wafer Flowtube Sensor operates using electromagnetic flow measurement technology, where a magnetic field is applied across the pipe and the induced voltage generated by the moving conductive fluid is used to determine flow rate. Its flangeless wafer-style design makes it significantly lighter and more compact than traditional flanged flowmeters, reducing installation cost and space requirements. It supports line sizes from 0.15 to 8 inches (4–200 mm) and requires a minimum fluid conductivity of 5 µS/cm, ensuring accurate measurement in water, chemicals, and slurries. The sensor delivers accuracy up to ±0.15% of rate (±0.25% standard) across wide flow ranges, maintaining consistent performance regardless of pipe size or configuration.

In addition, the sensor is designed with durable liner materials such as PTFE, PFA, and ETFE and a wide selection of electrode materials including 316L stainless steel, Hastelloy, platinum, tantalum, and titanium, allowing compatibility with corrosive and abrasive fluids. Alignment rings are included for easy centering during installation, while the obstructionless design with no moving parts minimizes maintenance requirements. It is fully compatible with Rosemount 8700 series transmitters (such as 8712 and 8732), enabling seamless system integration and accurate calibration using factory-stored sensor data.
